Delivering the 2018/2019 Budget speech on the 29th of May, Lephalale Local Municipality Mayor, Moloko Jack Maeko said that the budget presented is in informed by the New Dawn and the collective intention of building a Municipality that will belong to all who live in it.

Learners who completed training with Kaefer Energy Projects where honored with certificates. They expressed gratitude and appreciation to the LLM Mayor, Cllr Jack Maeko and Eskom-Matimba, for helping them get the required training and work experience.

Like with all other years, the Birthday celebration of the Honorable Mayor of Lephalale Local Municipality, Cllr Moloko Jack Maeko, brought together communities from all villages of Lephalale at Moses Monanyane Sports Complex in Shongoane Village on 17 May 2018.

Ahead of his birthday Lephalale Local Municipality Mayor, Jack Maeko celebrated the birthday of Ramokone Francina from Mokuruanyane who was turning 110 years old on the 16 May 2017. The Mayor also donated food parcels to the family.

In an effort to revive the community broadcasting sector in the country the Deputy Minister of Communications, Pinky Kekana met with the Management of Lephalale FM and representatives of LLM led by Acting Mayor Cllr William Motlokwa to listen and discuss challenges that led to the closure of the Local Community Radio Station.

Lephalale Local Municipality female officials joined thousands of other women in honor of Winnie Madikizela-Mandela, this after a call was made following the death of the struggle stalwart, urging all women to wear black with a doek, beret or head scarf on Friday 06 April 2018, under the THEME: "Winnie Madikizela-Mandela did not die. She multiplied." Affectionately known as the Mother of the Nation, Madikizela-Mandela passed away at Milpark Hospital on Monday at the age of 81.

The Chinese delegation led by Mr Li Zhiqiang from Yangquan Coal Industry Group in China, who have partnered with the IDC for the feasibility study and representatives of Wison Engineering - the company appointed as the Study Managers, who were led by Mr Cui Hongxing, met with the leadership of LLM led by the honorable Mayor Cllr Jack Maeko.

LLM Mayor with learners who are currently undergoing a drivers license training at Masekwameng Driving School, as part of the annual 67 projects for Madiba launched by the Mayor. The project which is a Mayoral initiative is aimed at equipping the youth of Lephalale with the requisite skills to be able to enter into the job market. Since the beginning of the project in September 2017, 68 participants have already acquired their licenses

Forty Five (45) casual workers have been temporarily employed by Lephalale Local Municipality to work on an Integrated Environmental Management program under Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP)

Hundreds of elderly people attended the annual Mayoral grocery distribution programme at Thabo Mbeki Hall on 28 December 2017. The Honourable Mayor of Lephalale Local Municipality, Cllr Jack Maeko, in partnership with stakeholders Eskom-Matimba and Exxaro donated groceries to local elderly people. He acknowledged the contribution from stakeholders and support of all Municipal activities by the elders. "I am aware that our elders are breadwinners in their respective families. They use their social grants money to feed their unemployed children and grandchildren. The Municipality will continue to work on programmes aimed at bettering the lives of local people, alleviate poverty and prioritize education."

Lephalale Local Municipality Mayor, Moloko Jack Maeko led a delegation of councillors to welcome new born babies on Christmas day 25th of December 2017 at Ellisras and Witpoort Hospital, by giving them presents and wishing them well for the future. Ellisras Hospital welcomed Happy Komape from Ga-Mushi, born at 07:06, while Mpho Dikosha from Morwe, Victoria Phiri from Thabo Mbeki and Mmanoko Nkoana from Ga-Monyeki were born in Witpoort Hospital. The Mayor also visited all other patients admitted in the hospitals on the day. He also commended the staff members at the hospitals for their hard work, commitment and dedication
