The Council of Makhuduthamaga Local Municipality adopted the municipal logo on the 29 May 2003 after a series of consultative meeting with members of the community and concerned stakeholders. A consensus was reached that the logo as the Municipal Corporate identity should include the following features that would be identical with the community. This logo should serve as a source of inspiration to the broader community of Makhuduthamaga. It has the following features: Giant African Cock - which crows every morning to signal the new dawn. (this represents Makhuduthamaga as pace setters for development) Yellow Background - it represents the rich mineral deposits in the area. The Spear - it represent the heritage and the wars of resistance in the 1800s and the early 1900s. The Hoe - it represents subsistence farming which is the basic source of survival for most people. The Wheat - it shows the economic viability of agriculture in this area. Green Colour - it represents the abundance of potential by human beings. Shaking hands - it represents the unity that has guided the community even during the difficult periods of war against colonialism. The Calabash - it represents arts and crafts which are also important for local economic development. The red and brown decorations – they are common in most African homesteads. The black colour and the flower – it represents the beauty of the lands especially the ridges and the mountains. |
